A community forum built by women, for women; organising, supporting and standing shoulder to shoulder for a stronger Diepsloot.
Diepsloot Women's Forum is a non-profit organisation founded in May 2023 and registered on 11 November 2024. It is a movement focused on the growth, development and empowerment of women in and around the community of Diepsloot.
The women are empowered socially, mentally, economically, spiritually, and emotionally, through programmes built by the community, for the community.
What the forum stands for, and how it works to get there, in its own words.
The vision is to create an environment where women will feel and be safe in their surroundings, be fully empowered and developed to flourish and reach their full potential. Be able to easily access opportunities that will give them enough confidence to not have to depend on toxic substances, relationships or other harmful means, and be able to be financially independent to take care of and sustain themselves and their families.
The mission of the forum is to bring forth programs and initiatives that will uplift and empower the women of the community to become better versions of themselves and be able to be self-dependent. There are programs that are already running such as the feeding scheme, and the vegetable garden. The women attend skills programs such as mental health, parenting, GBV, job readiness, business, as well as other skills programs. Other programs will become available as the forum becomes better resourced.
